The pequi tree grows up to 30 meters high and bears yellow-red fruits that grow to about 7 – 10 cm in size. In Brazil, the fruits are eaten raw, cooked with rice but also made into liqueur, juice and ice cream. Some indigenous people even say that the pequi fruit has an aphrodisiac effect, which is probably due to the intense fragrance and harmonious aroma.
